How it works

  1. Answer five questions

Tell us who is covered, who you are with, when you renew, whether you have claimed and roughly what you pay. A few taps, no paperwork.

  2. A specialist reviews your cover

An FCA-authorised adviser from Vizion Insurance Brokers looks at your answers, then calls you to talk through your current policy and the alternatives.

  3. You decide

If there is a better option, they explain it, including what would and would not be covered. Switching, changing your policy or staying put is entirely up to you.

Why switching needs care

A cheaper quote is only good news if it covers you properly. When you move to a new insurer, the way they treat your medical history matters as much as the price.

Moratorium underwriting

You do not fill in a medical form. Instead, conditions you have had symptoms, treatment or advice for in the years before joining (typically the last five) are excluded at first. They can become covered once you have gone a set period, usually two years, without symptoms, treatment or advice for them.

Full medical underwriting

You give your medical history up front. The insurer then tells you exactly what is and is not covered before your policy starts, so there are fewer surprises later.

Switching on continued terms

Some insurers will take you on the same underwriting terms you have now. Done properly, this can mean conditions your current policy covers stay covered with the new insurer. It is not always available and depends on your claims history, which is why a specialist checks before you move.

If you have claimed recently, switching on the wrong terms could leave a condition uncovered. That is the main thing a review is there to check.

Questions people ask

Is the review free?

Yes. There is no charge to you for the review. If you decide to take out a policy, the broker will explain how they are paid before you agree to anything. Private Health Review may receive a fee from the broker for introducing you.

Will I be pressured into switching?

No. The specialist's job is to explain your options so you can decide. You can say no at any point, and staying where you are is always an option.

What happens to my details?

With your consent, we pass your answers and contact details to Vizion Insurance Brokers, an FCA-authorised broker, who will contact you about your review. We do not sell your details to anyone else. Our privacy policy explains everything, including how long we keep your information and how to ask us to delete it.

Can I keep my current insurer?

Yes. Sometimes the right outcome is to stay where you are, perhaps with a change to your excess, hospital list or outpatient limit to bring the cost down. A review can look at that too.
